Just after some sites reported that Nissan was working on the new version of the Qashqai, a mysterious version of this excellent crossover was caught on a test ride wearing minimal amount of camouflage. Keeping in mind that the last generation of the Quasqai was introduced in 2015, we do not expect revolutionary changes for the 2017 model year, but there will be some novelties for sure. There are some speculations that the company won’t call it Qashqai, but we will refer it as Qashqai to avoid misunderstandings. The most important thing to be known about the 2017 Nissan Qashqai is that it will be less expensive version of the Rogue. Read the article below to find out more about this small but great crossover.
2017 Nissan Qashqai Exterior
Most of you will agree that the company won’t have too much work to make the Qashqai ready for the 2017 model year, at least in terms of exterior. The new Nissan Qashqai 2017 will be sportier than ever and it will boast more detailed body creases. Thanks to these smaller, but important changes, it will look more appealing. It will be based on the P32L platform.
It is the same platform on which other members of Nissan’s crossover family are based. Most of the changes in terms of the exterior will take place on the front end of the car where you will see a larger version of the bumper and wider grid for better airflow. The aforementioned components make the vehicle more aggressive. The look of the rear end will be mostly carried over, without significant changes being noticed.
Nissan Qashqai 2017 Interior
The interior of the 2017 Nissan Qashqai will be almost identical as the interior of the current generation of the Rogue. Of course, the smaller variant doesn’t have the optional third-row seating as the Rogue. Other than that, things will be pretty much the same. However, there are some rumors that the new Qashqai will benefit from an upgraded version of the infotainment and information system.
The cabin is spacious and comfortable so the new Qashqai is perfect for long-distance driving. Features like blind-spot monitoring, lane –departure warning, rearview camera, stability control, and many others will be offered as standard. As for the infotainment features, there will be a Nissan’s Connect system, panoramic sunroof, seven-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and others.
2017 Nissan Qashqai Engine
Nissan’s compact crossover called Qashqai will be offered with four different engine options so the customers will be able to choose the one which meets their needs in the best way. The base engine comes in the form of a 1.2 liter 4 cylinder turbocharged engine which generates 116 and 140 lb-ft of torque. A 1.6 liter 4 cylinder dCi that churns 110 horses and 260 Nm of torque is also one of the options.
Moreover, there is a 1.6 liter four cylinder making 131 hp and 236 pound-feet of torque. The last engine option is a 2.0 liter four cylinder gasoline engine capable of producing 142 hp and 200 Nm of torque.
Customers will have to choose between front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive systems. The engines will be mated to either a 6-speed automatic gearbox or a CVT auto shifter.
