Chevrolet Colorado arrived as a successor to the carmaker’s first-ever compact pickup the S-10. Only minor changes have been made to the Colorado in 2005 when it was suddenly discontinued. However, it seems that the discontinuation was only a break since the carmaker is getting ready to launch the third generation of the mighty Colorado. The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado will be based on the global truck platform. It will have a much sturdier platform for hauling and towing since it comes with a new, fully boxed hydroformed steel frame. Moreover, it will be powered by new, more powerful engines. The carmaker has announced that the engines will not only be more powerful but also more fuel efficient. It seems that Chevy Colorado 2017 brings many novelties to the table, let’s check some of them.
2017 Chevrolet Colorado Exterior
The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado will be the vehicle it has always been- sporty, eager, and young. Well, compared to its cousin Silverado, it will be much sportier. It seems that the new Colorado has pretty bright future and light years since its competition in the midsize truck segment is pretty stagnant. For example, Nissan’s Frontier hasn’t been changed for a while, and Ram and Ford seem to be pretty uninterested when it comes to this segment.
Toyota’s Tacoma, on the other hand, has received some minor refreshments but we think that the changes are not good enough to win Chevy’s Colorado. The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado is big enough, but at the same time, it is small enough. It is offered with the crew and extended cab configurations. As for the extended cab, it will get a six-foot bed while the latter gets a five-foot bed. As always, the extended cab comes with rear suicide doors.
Chevrolet Colorado 2017 Interior
As soon as you take your seat behind the steering of the Colorado, you will notice that its dashboard has a lot of things in common with that of the Silverado’s. There is the same, large center stack and controls.
As far as the technological aspect of the cabin is concerned, an optional 8-inch touch-sensitive screen will feature MyLink software. The instrument cluster features a 3.4-inch display which shows all crucial information about vehicle’s status. The cabin is roomy and it is pretty comfortable even for long trips.
Chevrolet Colorado Engine
Under the hood of 2017 Chevy Colorado will be two engine options. The base engine comes in the form of a 2.5-liter I-4 which cranks out 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. A 3.6-liter V-6 is also offered.
This engine churns 305 ponies and 269 pound-feet of torque. Just to mention that both of these engines are variations on the GM engines, but they are adapted and optimized for truck duty. Power is routed through a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission.
2017 Chevrolet Colorado Pricing
