The new generation of the Chevrolet Captiva is on the horizon. Chevrolet was pretty busy during the last year or two and they will soon see if the labor pays off. Namely, they have refreshed many models in their lineup, and among them is the 2017 Chevrolet Captiva. The current generation of the Captiva came in 2013 and the company took four years to launch the revised version. Many sites reported that the new generation of the Chevrolet Captiva will be heavily inspired by the Opel Antara but we believe that the refreshed model will have a lot of original features. The previous generations of this model were great, let’s check if the Chevrolet Captiva 2017 is as good as its predecessors.
2017 Chevrolet Captiva Exterior
As we have already mentioned, the new generation of Captiva will look like the Opel Antara, but there are many features that differentiate the two models. For example, the Captiva has unique twin exhaust pipes and is an all-wheel-drive model. This time, it will sit on a shorter wheelbase, with its front end being chopped off. We are still talking about the concept; the production car is not ready yet.
Do not take all details for granted, because the company can change its mind even tomorrow. The vehicle keeps its recognizable door-mounted mirrors, side air vents, LED turning signals, etc. Even though the front end will probably be shortened, not significantly though, it will sport a new, shinny grille. There will also be redesigned headlights with more angular shape.
Chevrolet Captiva 2017 Interior
According to some rumors, Chevrolet is not preparing anything special for the cabin of the 2017 Captiva. Oh, we used a wrong expression. The cabin will be special as always but the company is not preparing any special and significant changes for the 2017 model year.
The overall layout of the cabin won’t be changed to such an extent. It will be functional, comfortable, and pleasant as always. The center console will get a new, 7-inch touchscreen display. Also new is a four-spoke steering wheel, wrapped in leather. The premium models get leather upholstery, while the base model gets cloth upholstery.
Engine of the new Chevrolet Captiva
We hate to tell you this, but the company hasn’t released any official information regarding the engine of the 2017 Chevrolet Captiva. There are many rumors and speculations but we will share details we have found on some trusted sites. Namely, those sites reported that there would probably be two engine options for the Captiva.
The base engine could be a 2.2 liter unit, with the maximum output of 167 horsepower. The more powerful engine might be a 3.0 liter engine V6 unit that churns 258 horses and 212 lb-ft of torque. The carmaker hasn’t said much about fuel economy either, but we expect to see some improvements.
2017 Chevrolet Captiva Pricing
The last thing to be discussed is the price of the 2017 Chevrolet Captiva. The base model’s price has been set at $25,000, while higher trim levels with better equipment and features cost a bit more.
