Rumors have been circulating for a while that a production version of the Maserati’s Kubang concept will soon appear on roads. It has now finally been confirmed that the company’s first-ever SUV is ready to see the light of day. Maserati will pull covers off from its first ever SUV at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. The Levante will be finally ready to join the everyday flourishing SUV market. With their brand-new SUV model, Maserati wants to increase sales to over 50,000 models a year worldwide. Thanks to this model, Italians will get enough funds to continue building good-looking sports cars and amazing sedans. Even though details about the upcoming 2016 Maserati Levante are still scarce, we conclude that everything will be about performance, power, and luxury.
2016 Maserati Levante Exterior
Official details about the 2016 Maserati Levante are yet to be published but there are many hints as to what the SUV will look like. Two things are certain: it will be based on the same platform as the Ghibli and it will borrow a great deal of styling cues presented in 2011 when the Kubang Concept was unveiled. When you combine all this, you get a muscular, refined, and sleek crossover.
It is quite possible that the front end of the vehicle will employ a trademark Trident grille to get more aggressive look. There will also be large air inlets and two slim headlamps to shape the vehicle’s front end. It will also sport the trademark, beefy fenders which extend toward the raked tailgate. Moving to the back, you will see rather clean design with a set of large taillights and large exhaust outlets. When you see a subtle spoiler on the top of the tailgate, you will immediately realize that the 2016 Maserati Levante will have a lot to offer in terms of performance too.
Maserati Levante 2016 Interior
The company hasn’t released a single photo of Levanti’s interior. We assume that it will have unique interior layout but it will surely borrow some of the Ghibli’s and Quattroporte’s cues. We look forward seeing a two-tone dashboard and a large touchscreen display for entertainment.
As for the materials, we expect to see Alcantara and high-quality leather h contrast stitching. Aluminum and carbon fiber inserts will be present too. Some of the company’s racing heritage will clearly be seen in the new Levante. A sporty instrument cluster and steering wheel will be there to witness that.
Maserati Levante Engine
The latest reports suggest that the 2016 Maserati Levante will be powered by excellent engine options but the greatest surprise is that there will be four different engine options. Those are a twin-turbo, 3.0-liter V-6 that makes 404 hp and 406 pound-feet of torque, and a 3.8-liter V-8 generating 523 hp and 473 pound-feet of torque.
There will also be a an oil burner in the form of a 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine that produces 266 horses and 420 pound-feet of torque and a hybrid variant. Details about hybrid engine options will be announced soon.
2016 Maserati Levante Pricing
After you’ve read the article, it is not that hard to conclude that the 2016 Maserati Levante won’t be cheap. The starting price will be no less than $80,000.
