A couple of months ago, VW debuted at the Geneva motor show with the T-Roc which was a small SUV with a hardtop that could be taken down to make for one of the first cabriolet top SUVs. There are actually plans for a 2015 Volkswagen T-Roc which is said to be the competitor to beat in 2015. The car will be able to compete with cars such as the Dacia Duster or the Peugeot 2008 which took massive leads over their competitors thanks to their low price and good equipment levels.
2015 Volkswagen T-Roc Performance
The new 2015 Volkswagen T-Roc is most likely going to be based on the Golf, meaning that it will be slightly smaller than the current Tiguan and also less expensive than it. While the concept was using a 2 liter turbocharged diesel that was capable of more than 170 horsepower and 380 N*m of torque, the production car will most likely feature a completely different set of engines.
Volkswagen T-Roc Engine
Engine wise, the Volkswagen T-Roc 2015 is most likely to get pretty much the same engines as the Golf. Expect the base one to be a 1.4 liter turbocharged Tsi with around 140 horsepower and up to 180 lb-ft of torque. On top of this, two diesels should be available. The 1.6 with 105 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque and the bigger and more powerful 2 liter diesel with 140 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque.
It will be available either with front wheel drive which will be standard on all the models or all wheel drive, which is likely to only be available on the top end diesel. Fuel consumption is expected to be as low as 5 liters/100 km for both the diesel engines while the petrol is likely to sit at 6 liters/100km. Performance wise, it will be on par with its main competitors.
Design of Volkswagen T-Roc 2015
The design of the 2015 Volkswagen T-Roc however hasn’t been officially released, so there might be a couple of things changes until its official release but we expect a small SUV with a similar design to the Tiguan but smaller than it. There are high chances that the new T-Roc will be available both in 2 and 4 door form, which would be quite a novelty on the market.
Volkswagen T-Roc 2015 Interior
On the interior it will most likely share its dashboard with the Polo while the seats will be similar to those found in the Golf. This would allow VW to keep costs down while keeping a good level of quality.
2015 Volkswagen T-Roc Price
The 2015 Volkswagen T-Roc price for it hasn’t been announced just yet but considering its competitors and the fact that VW is making this car with economy in mind, it is likely to cost less than 15.000 euro for the base model which would be shattering for its competitors. The release date is most likely to be in the mid to late 2015.
