The Trans Am managed to get one of the biggest fan bases in the US due to its great looks, muscle car performance and good price but GM discarded this particular model for more than ten years now. Well, if you liked the car then you should know that there are now plans of bringing it back with the 2015 Trans Am Pontiac. This car is going to be based on the future Camaro or the current generation if it will be released by the end of this year.
2015 Trans Am Pontiac Release Date and Price
Considering it will be a Camaro based model, it should be quite easy to understand that it is likely to feature the exact same engines as before. On top of that, the interior of the 2015 Trans Am Pontiac is likely to be pretty similar to that of the Camaro as well. Pricing wise, it is expected to cost around 25.000 dollars for the base model which will include the V6 engine. The release date is unknown at this point but it is expected to come either by the end of this year or at the start of 2015.
Engine wise, the 2015 Trans Am Pontiac will most likely feature three engines. The base is going to be the same 3.6 liter 300+ horsepower from the Camaro which will be coupled to the rear wheels via a 6 speed automatic. There are plans for giving it an optional 2.8 liter turbocharged V6 which has been developed in Europe. This would give it around 380 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque which would easily allow it to compete with the Mustang. This engine will be available either with 6 speed automatic or 6 speed manual and rear wheel drive also featuring a limited slip differential.
The most powerful engine in 2015 Trans Am Pontiac though will be the 6.2 liter V8, offering around 450 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque which even though won’t be much more powerful than the turbocharged V6, it will offer the muscle car feel.
Inside, the 2015 Trans Am Pontiac is going to be basically identical to the Camaro with two minor exceptions. Firstly, the steering wheel has been changed in order to show that it is a Pontiac while the second change will come in the form of new seats which are designed specially for this car.
On the exterior on the other hand, the 2015 Trans Am Pontiac will get new front and rear bumpers as well as new side skirts that will make it look a lot like the ’70s Trans Am with the individual tail lights and the hidden headlights. Another cool feature is the hard top which can be removed in order to make it look like a targa top car.
