2015 Toyota Sequoia featured

The first reports which hit the press a few months ago suggested an all new Sequoia from Toyota which was using a different chassis and was more of a people’s carrier rather than a full blown SUV. Well, luckily Toyota dismissed all those rumors and they even released some information about the 2015 Toyota Sequoia which is said to feature improved engines and also a better suspension system in terms of comfort and ride quality. Just like before, this model is going to be based on the Tundra meaning that it will likely share most of the Tundra’s features, both inside and out.

Interior of 2015 Toyota Sequoia

On the interior, 2015 Toyota Sequoia is a bit misleading at first. At this price you would expect that most of the features as well as the equipment will be there but this is not true for it. In fact, the Sequoia features one of the lower end interiors in its range, offering as standard seven seats, cloth upholstery, electric seats, only a dual zone automatic climate control system and materials on the dashboard which don’t look as expensive as they should.

It doesn’t even come with a screen to control the audio system. Instead, there is an old interface with big chunky buttons and that’s pretty much it. The satellite navigation and infotainment system is a small 6.4 inch unit which can be had as an option on most models.

Toyota Sequoia 2015 Exterior

The outside of the 2015 Toyota Sequoia on the other hand is going to be refresh and both the back and the front of the car will get a major facelift. It is said that the front of it will look a lot more like the 4Runner as well as it will take a few influences from the Tundra for a much more aggressive style. The back on the other hand will clean the keep look but it will get a new set of LED tail lights.

New 2015 Sequoia Engine

Under the 2015 Toyota Sequoia hood we will see the same engines as in the Tundra. This means that the base model will get a 4.6 liter V8 with up to 310 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque. This may seem like an okay figure but take into account all of its competitors are getting more power from smaller and more fuel efficient engines.

The top of the range is going to be the 5.7 liter 384 horsepower V8. This is good for more than 400 lb-ft of torque and thanks to the 6 speed automatic, the ride quality is superb. The major drawback of these two is their fuel consumption which is the worse among its competitors.

Toyota Sequoia Performance

There are plans on improving the 2015 Toyota Sequoia with either a 4.5 or 5 liter V8 diesel. The bigger would be supplied by Cummins and it would make as much as 300 horsepower and more than 500 lb-ft of torque while the smaller version is the one found in the Land Cruiser. This isn’t as powerful but it should offer the best fuel consumption of the two. Both of these two engines would come with all wheel drive only and a 6 speed automatic gearbox.

The price however is one thing which is different. The Sequoia starts at nearly $40,000 and goes as far as $65,000 for a full spec model. On top of that there are now rumors about an upcoming new model which is said to cost even more. This is going to feature the new engine as well as the new transmission and it will likely be marketed as the top end model in the range. The release date is going to be in the middle of 2015 while the release date for the top end model is likely to be slightly delayed until 2016.
