The Viper is one of the older super cars on the market and since its official release more than 20 years ago it didn’t change all that much. The recipe remained basically the same with a massive engine in the front of the car, rear wheel drive and a manual gearbox which should give the best driving experience possible. The latest generation of the Viper is actually the fifth generation of this model and it has been released back in 2012. However, the sport model of it, the 2015 SRT Viper ACR, hasn’t been released on the market even though there have been rumors about it for more than two years already.
2015 SRT Viper ACR Price
Fortunately though, SRT just announced their 2015 SRT Viper ACR which is said to debut sometime in 2015 or early 2016. Just like the previous one, this model is going to be based on the standard car but it will feature a few upgrades which are going to make it a lot faster that the base model. Its price hasn’t been disclosed just yet but considering the older generation and the price of the current Viper, it is expected to go for around $80K to $90,000 which isn’t as much as you might think considering all the car you get for the money.
As far as the engine goes, it will actually be offered with the same 8.4 liter V10 which currently powers the base model but unlike it, it will likely offer more than 750 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque which is a reasonable amount of power for it. This will probably be achieved with the help of a new intake and exhaust system as well as a new engine management system. A supercharged or a turbocharged version is unlikely to be released but you just never know, especially now when Fiat took over the SRT brand.
Just like with the base car, the engine is going to be mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox which will power the rear wheels via a limited slip differential. This is very refreshing considering most other similar cars are only offering automatic transmissions which take from the pleasure of driving.
We don’t know much about its performance just yet but the top speed is surely going to be over 200 miles per hour while the 0 to 60 time will be less than 3.4 seconds which is insanely good for a manual gearbox. Also, the previous ACR managed to get around the Nurburgring faster than any other production car at the time of its launch and this is also expected from the 2015 SRT Viper ACR.
Inside the 2015 SRT Viper ACR there will be the same blend of comfort, luxury and sporty features which the base car had. The seats are likely to be upgraded into more supportive units with much better lateral support while the upholstery is likely going to receive a two-tone color. Most of the features which include dual zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, satellite navigation and even aluminum inserts are going to be standard.
The exterior of the 2015 SRT Viper ACR on the other hand is going to be a whole lot different than that of the base model. There will be a new front and rear bumpers which include a splitter as well as a rear diffuser which are going to help the car at speeds of over 120 miles per hour, a new set of wheels with semi-slick tires which are going to be very helpful on the track as well as a massive rear wing which can be adjusted depending on the need of the driver. All of these are going to be completed by a new color which is going to be unique for the ACR version.
