2015 Nissan GT-R Convertible

Since its official release, the GT-R has been one of the most appreciated super cars in the World thanks to its fair price and insane levels of performance but it always had a drawback. It never offered a convertible and this was due to the fact that Nissan said the car would become too heavy and too loose and it would lose its performance crown.

However, a small engineering company in the US managed to get exactly such a car with the 2015 Nissan GT-R Convertible which resulted after a couple of very rich people in Abu Dhabi wanted a convertible GT-R. The actual convertible is based on the normal car and it has very minimal impact on its performance because they managed to make use of the support beams that were already in the car.

2015 Nissan GT-R Convertible Price

Its price on the other hand has been impacted, the base package costing over 30.000 dollars while the full package which basically give you the convertible will cost more than 50.000 dollars. Add to this the price of the car and you get a 160.000 dollars 2015 Nissan GT-R Convertible which is sure to turn heads.

2015 Nissan GT-R Convertible Engine

Engine wise, they didn’t make any modifications so, with 2015 Nissan GT-R Convertible, we will still get the 3.8 liter twin turbocharged V6 with around 500 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque and the same transaxle gearbox that will offer insane levels of performance. This combination will be able to get the new Convertible from 0 to 60 MPH in less than 3.6 seconds which is almost half a second lower than the Coupe but this is due to an increased weight. The top speed on the other hand is now limited to 120 MPH when the soft top is up and up to 188 MPH if the car has the top down.

On the interior, this engineering company didn’t make any changes so the 2015 Nissan GT-R Convertible will still feature the same dashboard, satellite navigation system and infotainment system made by the guys who made the Gran Turismo series on the PlayStation. The only change inside the car were the seats which now offer better impact support and also a new set of airbags.
The exterior of the 2015 Nissan GT-R Convertible on the other hand received changes to the roof, so instead of a big piece of metal we now get a soft top and also a roadster like soft top cover. This will make use of two bulges behind the seats which will have both structural role as the roll-over struts and also will help the car achieve its maximum top speed, acting like a big diffuser that will sit on the car rather than under it.
