2015 McLaren P1 featured

McLaren is one of the most appreciated super-car manufacturers in the World not because their cars are one of the fastest cars in the World but because they innovate the most out of all super car manufacturers on the market. Their initial F1 was the fastest car in the World for many years in a row and thanks to its limited availability it quickly became one of the most sought after cars out there. The 2015 McLaren P1 is trying to do just that with its limited numbers, insane level of performance and amazing looks.

2015 McLaren P1 Engine

Engine wise, the McLaren P1 2015 is powered by a similar 3.8 liter V8 as that found in the 650S but this time it makes 727 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque all by itself. This has been achieved with the help of two massive turbochargers and different internal components. You would think that such a small engine with those massive turbos would have problems with the low rpm power delivery and you would be right. This is the main reason why it also features an electric motor which further increases to power to 909 horsepower and 722 lb-ft of torque, giving it almost 606 horsepower per tonne which is almost 100 horsepower more than the Veyron.

The electric motor can be used in two different ways. The driver can let it on auto in which case it acts just like the electric unit on a hybrid car or it can be used as a boost unit in which case the driver takes full control of it. If it is used in electric mode only, the car can travel around 20 miles with a single charge. This is very helpful in the city and because it can be charged from a normal outlet in just 2 hours, it does make a great car for short trips. However, if there is a longer journey, when the battery goes low, the petrol engine kicks in, in which case it can travel up to 300 miles with a single fuel, having an average fuel consumption of almost 17 MPG.

McLaren P1 2015 Performance

As far as the performance goes, the 2015 McLaren P1 will be able to get from 0 to 60 MPH in around 2.6 seconds and up to a limited top speed of 217 MPH, making it one of the fastest cars in the World.

However, the amazing thing it’s not 2015 McLaren P1 speed but the way it drives. Thanks to massive Pirelly Corsa tires which have been specifically developed for it, carbon ceramic brakes and a very clever suspension system which is controlled entirely by a computer, the P1 sticks to the road like nothing else and drives better as the speed increases. This is also the reason why it is the fastest car on the Nurburgring at this moment, record which has been achieved by a fully stock P1.
