When they were introduced, the muscle cars were mean speed machines which could be bought with an average salary, making them one of the most appreciated cars in the World. The Challenger has always been a muscle car and it has been part of the original few which started it all. The latest iteration of this model, the 2015 Dodge Challenger is better than ever and just like the original model, it is available from a starting price which almost anyone can afford.
Over the older generation, the newer model features improved engines, it received a brand new model which is going to make all the speed lovers happy as well as an updated design.
2015 Dodge Challenger Price
While the pricing of the 2015 Dodge Challenger is actually better than ever, with the base model only costing $27,000 , the newer models as well as the high power version are actually more expensive than before, but with a good reason which we’ll discuss a bit later. The model has been released back in the Summer of 2014 with the showroom availability starting in the late 2014.
Just as we said, the Challenger is now going to be available in a few different models. The base one features a 3.6 liter aspirated V6 good for 305 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. It isn’t able to get the fuel economy of a EcoBoost Mustang but it is slightly faster as well as much cheaper than it. Standard equipment will include a 7 inch touch screen, a pretty good audio system as well as dual zone automatic climate control system.
Moving up the range, the R/T is equipped with a 5.7 liter V8 which puts out 370 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, offering better performance with similar fuel consumption. It is more expensive but it also features a lot more like leather upholstery, retro styled gauges, a satellite navigation system as well as the LED halo-ring headlights which have been introduced on the latest generation.
The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT8 features the big 6.2 liter V8 which offers up to 485 horsepower and more than 500 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to this engine, it is capable of a 0 to 60 time of less than 4 seconds and having a top speed of above 170 miles per hour, the Challenger can be called a true speed machine.
All of these engines offer similar fuel consumption which is really nice. This is possible thanks to a cylinder deactivation system and a new 8 speed automatic gearbox which replaced the older 6 speed automatic. A 6 speed manual is also available but only on the R/T. Except the car coming with the V6 engine, the 2015 Dodge Challenger will be available as standard with a limited slip differential.
The newest addition to the range is the 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat model which is the most powerful production Dodge ever built. It features a 707 horsepower 6.2 liter V8 which puts out 650 lb-ft of torque. It is able to get from 0 to 60 miles per hour in less than 3.5 seconds, it has a top speed of 199 miles per hour and can do a quarter mile in just 11.2 seconds. There are a few cosmetic differences as well, over the base model. For example, the interior features the premium package with the 8.4 inch screen and satellite navigation, the leather upholstery with the sport seats as well as the new color scheme. On the exterior, it has a new front bumper which also includes a splitter in order to keep the car in check at speed while the inner headlights are hollowed in the middle in order to allow the massive engine to intake air at high speed.
